From 33834516f361dfb3e52c6ca71336adaf45b1d65e Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Douglas Gregor Date: Sun, 14 Jun 2009 07:33:30 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Update LLVM. Implement support for C++ Substitution Failure Is Not An Error (SFINAE), which says that errors that occur during template argument deduction do *not* produce diagnostics and do not necessarily make a program ill-formed. Instead, template argument deduction silently fails. This is currently implemented for template argument deduction during matching of class template partial specializations, although the mechanism will also apply to template argument deduction for function templates. The scheme is simple: - If we are in a template argument deduction context, any diagnostic that is considered a SFINAE error (or warning) will be suppressed. The error will be propagated up the call stack via the normal means. - By default, all warnings and errors are SFINAE errors. Add the NoSFINAE class to a diagnostic in the .td file to make it a hard error (e.g., for access-control violations). Note that, to make this fully work, every place in Sema that emits an error *and then immediately recovers* will need to check Sema::isSFINAEContext() to determine whether it must immediately return an error rather than recovering. llvm-svn: 73332 --- clang/include/clang/AST/ASTDiagnostic.h | 2 +- .../clang/Analysis/AnalysisDiagnostic.h | 2 +- clang/include/clang/Basic/Diagnostic.h | 55 +++++++++++++++---- clang/include/clang/Basic/Diagnostic.td | 3 + .../clang/Basic/DiagnosticSemaKinds.td | 13 +++-- clang/include/clang/Driver/DriverDiagnostic.h | 2 +- .../clang/Frontend/FrontendDiagnostic.h | 2 +- clang/include/clang/Lex/LexDiagnostic.h | 2 +- clang/include/clang/Parse/ParseDiagnostic.h | 2 +- clang/include/clang/Sema/SemaDiagnostic.h | 2 +- clang/lib/Basic/Diagnostic.cpp | 25 ++++++--- clang/lib/Sema/Sema.cpp | 3 +- clang/lib/Sema/Sema.h | 18 ++++++ clang/lib/Sema/SemaTemplateInstantiate.cpp | 28 ++++++++++ clang/test/SemaTemplate/temp_class_spec.cpp | 5 +- clang/www/cxx_status.html | 8 +-- 16 files changed, 133 insertions(+), 39 deletions(-) diff --git a/clang/include/clang/AST/ASTDiagnostic.h b/clang/include/clang/AST/ASTDiagnostic.h index 244ca9e10f3a..e9f150574b05 100644 --- a/clang/include/clang/AST/ASTDiagnostic.h +++ b/clang/include/clang/AST/ASTDiagnostic.h @@ -15,7 +15,7 @@ namespace clang { namespace diag { enum { -#define DIAG(ENUM,FLAGS,DEFAULT_MAPPING,DESC,GROUP) ENUM, +#define DIAG(ENUM,FLAGS,DEFAULT_MAPPING,DESC,GROUP,SFINAE) ENUM, #define ASTSTART #include "clang/Basic/DiagnosticASTKinds.inc" #undef DIAG diff --git a/clang/include/clang/Analysis/AnalysisDiagnostic.h b/clang/include/clang/Analysis/AnalysisDiagnostic.h index e82dc9ed9f3f..3ee733518595 100644 --- a/clang/include/clang/Analysis/AnalysisDiagnostic.h +++ b/clang/include/clang/Analysis/AnalysisDiagnostic.h @@ -15,7 +15,7 @@ namespace clang { namespace diag { enum { -#define DIAG(ENUM,FLAGS,DEFAULT_MAPPING,DESC,GROUP) ENUM, +#define DIAG(ENUM,FLAGS,DEFAULT_MAPPING,DESC,GROUP,SFINAE) ENUM, #define ANALYSISSTART #include "clang/Basic/DiagnosticAnalysisKinds.inc" #undef DIAG diff --git a/clang/include/clang/Basic/Diagnostic.h b/clang/include/clang/Basic/Diagnostic.h index 22e7fb3f85ea..207710bdff31 100644 --- a/clang/include/clang/Basic/Diagnostic.h +++ b/clang/include/clang/Basic/Diagnostic.h @@ -50,7 +50,7 @@ namespace clang { // Get typedefs for common diagnostics. enum { -#define DIAG(ENUM,FLAGS,DEFAULT_MAPPING,DESC,GROUP) ENUM, +#define DIAG(ENUM,FLAGS,DEFAULT_MAPPING,DESC,GROUP,SFINAE) ENUM, #include "clang/Basic/DiagnosticCommonKinds.inc" NUM_BUILTIN_COMMON_DIAGNOSTICS #undef DIAG @@ -313,6 +313,16 @@ public: /// the diagnostic, this returns null. static const char *getWarningOptionForDiag(unsigned DiagID); + /// \brief Determines whether the given built-in diagnostic ID is + /// for an error that is suppressed if it occurs during C++ template + /// argument deduction. + /// + /// When an error is suppressed due to SFINAE, the template argument + /// deduction fails but no diagnostic is emitted.
